Indian Business & Professionals Network (IBPN), the apex body of Indian Businessmen and Professionals, functioning under the aegis of the Embassy of India has registered itself with Qatar Financial Center (QFC).
The QFC Authority, an independent financial and legal authority set up by the Government of Qatar manages and maintains the QFC legal and tax environment, and licences firms to conduct business in or from the QFC. The Authority also develops relationships with the global financial community and other key institutions, both within and outside Qatar, helping to develop the country’s private sector.
To benefit from this very favourable business enhancement environment, IBPN had approached QFC to be part of their platform. The body, which serves as a bridge between the Indian and Qatari companies exploring bilateral partnerships, recently went through their due diligence and registration process with the QFC.
“This partnership with IBPN is yet another example of the growing business relationships QFC is trying to build with Qatar’s business communities,” said Kamal Naji, Chief Strategy and Business Development officer at QFC Authority.
“While we have already licensed a number of Indian companies and institutions, IBPN is the first Business Council from India to expand through our platform and we look forward to a successful business collaboration with them” he added.
Speaking about this milestone, the Ambassador of India to Qatar P Kumaran said, “The Embassy sees very high value in this prestigious partnership between QFC with IBPN and I am sure that this platform will provide the members and institutions attached to IBPN, to engage with each other and explore trade and investment opportunities through the eco-system of QFC”.
He further added that, “given the historically close bilateral relations between India and Qatar, this partnership will further strengthen the growing trade exchanges and enhance the existing synergies.”
“The logistics of getting registered on the platform begins with submitting an application form with relevant supporting documents, going through the due diligence process and paying the prescribed fee. In fact, the support of M/s Morrison and Menon, local auditing and advisory firm as sponsoring SSP of IBPN made the steps of registration process very easy and practical,” said Sujata Zinzuwadia who spearheaded the registration process from IBPN Side .
At a brief function held at the QFC, IBPN President KM Varghese received the documents from the QFC authorities in the presence of Dinesh Udenia who is also the Coordinating Officer of IBPN.
“The platform will provide us a perfect launching pad to achieve our long term goals of driving IBPN to be a very dynamic and purposeful business council benefiting both the Indian and Qatari business community,” said Varghese.
“Indian professionals have been partners of Qatar, in its march towards Qatar becoming a most modern state to be at the forefront of international business community, and IBPN with our very talented and vast professional community under us will continue to play that role with the help of Embassy of India and QFC,” added Varghese.
The event was attended by Kala Gopala Krishnan, Vice President Sumit Malhotra the General Secretary of IBPN, and other executive members Mohd Ansari, T M Kabeer, Waseem Shaikh, Harish Kanjani and Mohd Farooq.
