Doha, Qatar: As British Smile Month shines a spotlight on the importance of oral health, the British International Dental Centre has found a unique and inspiring way to celebrate, through art.

This year, the practice was honoured to receive a striking painting from a talented young artist, Eleena, capturing a vibrant collection of diverse smiles. The artwork, rich in colour and expression, reflects the beauty of individuality and the universal language of a smile, something that lies at the very heart of dentistry.

What makes the piece even more special is the story behind it. Eleena, inspired by a long-held ambition to become a dentist, created the painting as a tribute to the profession. Currently studying at Doha College her work brings together people of different backgrounds, ages, and expressions, each smile telling its own story. The painting reminds us that every smile is unique and every smile matters.

“Dentistry is about so much more than teeth,” said Dr Sarah Aalders, Clinical Director and Founder of British International Dental Centre. “It’s about confidence, wellbeing, and helping people feel comfortable expressing themselves. This artwork captures that beautifully.”

British Smile Month has long promoted the importance of good oral hygiene, preventive care, and raising awareness about dental health for the last 50 years. However, this artistic contribution adds a deeper dimension, highlighting the emotional and personal impact of dentistry.

For the young artist, the piece represents both admiration and aspiration. Her interest in pursuing a future in dentistry was shaped by a desire to combine science, care, and human connection. Through her painting, she has already begun that journey, using creativity to celebrate the very essence of what dentistry aims to preserve: the smile.

The painting is now proudly displayed at British International Dental Centre, where it has quickly become a focal point for patients and staff alike. Many have found themselves reflected in its imagery, recognising that smiles come in many shapes and forms, all equally worthy of care and attention.

As British Smile Month continues, this collaboration between art and dentistry serves as a powerful reminder: behind every clinical procedure is a human story, and behind every smile is a moment of confidence, joy, or transformation. And sometimes, that story begins not in a dental chair, but on a canvas.

British International Dental Centre encourages everyone to take this opportunity to prioritise their oral health, by maintaining good daily habits, attending regular dental check-ups, and seeking professional advice when needed. After all, every smile deserves care, attention, and the confidence to shine.
