Doha, Qatar: Head of the Academic Section at the Private Schools and Kindergartens Department Administration of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education Fahad Al Ghanim, has stressed the importance of instilling authentic Qatari values in students from an early age to help shape responsible citizens and secure their future academic and professional success.
Speaking to Qatar TV recently, Al Ghanim said that the early stages of a student’s education are crucial for building a strong foundation of values that will guide them throughout their lives.
“It is very important to instill values in students from the beginning so that they become the foundation upon which we build the future. When students are grounded in sound values from an early age, they are more likely to follow a safe and successful path in their academic and professional lives,” he said.
Al Ghanim highlighted the pivotal role played by schools and teachers in transforming values from theoretical concepts into daily practices and behaviours. He noted that values education should go beyond classroom lessons and be reflected in students’ interactions with school leaders, teachers, and peers.
“Teachers serve as role models. When they demonstrate values such as cooperation, compassion, and solidarity in their daily interactions, students absorb and emulate these behaviours. Positive role models are essential in helping students adopt these values,” he explained.
Discussing the Ministry’s “My Values Shape My Identity” project, Al Ghanim expressed appreciation for the support provided by various ministries and government institutions, emphasising that students are future contributors to the nation and that nurturing their development is a shared responsibility.
He said the initiative includes several programmes aimed at strengthening national identity and promoting positive citizenship. Among them is the “Aseel” initiative, which teaches students about authentic citizenship, love for their homeland, and the importance of preserving and serving the nation.
Another key initiative, “Safe Navigation,” focuses on promoting ethical behaviour in the digital world. The programme encourages students to use the internet and technology responsibly while maintaining the same moral standards and respectful conduct that guide their interactions in everyday life.
Al Ghanim said these initiatives collectively contribute to reinforcing national identity among young people and preparing them to become responsible, value-driven members of society.
