Doha: Assistant Professor at the Department of Mass Communication of Qatar University Dr. Abdul Muttalib Siddiq Mekki has said that Qatar TV provided a strong professional environment that trained young Qatari media professionals helping them join various media outlets during its 52 years long journey.
He said that the national channel also contributed to the development of other creative arts, including TV dramas, serials and theatrical works. “In short, we can say that Qatar TV’s journey is a process of creative development in general,” said Dr. Mekki.
He said that the national channel provides new ideas and services as well to meet the challenges and aspirations of viewers.
“Qatar TV is also providing education, information and awareness among others. It also played an important role as a link between the government, citizens and service providers in the public and private sectors,” said Dr. Mekki.
He said that the channel, through its various programmes and innovative ideas, emerged as an important media outlet in GCC countries attracting huge viewership.
“The achievements of Qatar TV and the role played by the Qatari anchors is a source of inspiration for the students of Department of Mass Communication at Qatar University building their confidence to serve their country as professional journalists,” said Dr. Mekki.
He said that the 52-year journey of the channel reflects clearly on the screen in terms of the quality of the content it provides through its various programmes including cultural, social, religious, political, economic, local issues and children’s programmes among others.
