DOHA: Azeris in Doha celebrated their National Day at a reception held at the Ritz- Charlton Hotel yesterday.
Dr Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al Kuwari, Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage attended the event as the chief guest with officials from the ministry of foreign affairs.
Besides people from Azerbajain in Doha, members of diplomatic corps and prominent community members, also attended the reception.
Azerbajain ambassador to Qatar Tofiq Abdullayev welcomed the guests and highlighted their diplomatic relationship with Qatar.
Around 150 Azeris are living and working in the Oil and Gas industry here. Their diplomatic mission is aiming to increase the population and enrich their economic ties with Qatar.
“We have a good diplomatic relationship with Qatar. Now we look forward to enhance our economic ties,” said Muttalim Mirzayev, Consul at the Azerbajain embassy in Doha.
He noted that the relations between Azerbaijan and Qatar are developing consistently and both countries have already signed an agreement to avoid double taxation.
“So there is a good climate for investment.” “We look forward for Qatar to invest in the agricultural, oil and chemical sectors of our country,” he added.
He explained that as many projects are being developed in Qatar, Azerbajain is also looking forward to increase the number of its migrant workers here.
