DOHA: Aiming to boost knowledge and skill development among local talents, Qatargas has taken an initiative to form ‘Qatar Society of Engineers (QSE)’ enrolling all the Qatari engineers working in different organisations across the country to provide a common platform to exchange knowledge and ideas, said a statement yesterday.
The members, covering all engineers, will facilitate exchange of knowledge among national engineers in Qatar and help them keep abreast with the latest technology and ongoing developments in their various engineering disciplines.
This was announced in a ceremony held on the sidelines of the recently concluded ‘7th IEEE-GCC Conference and Exhibition’, that took place here from November 17 to 20 at the QNCC.
The ceremony was attended by Mansour Rashid Al Naimi, Qatargas Public Relations Manager, and Ahmad Jassim Al Jolo, Chairman, Qatar Society of Engineers. Also present at the ceremony were Khalid Ahmed Al Nasr, Board Member and Head of Finance Committee of QSE, Mohammed Hassan Al Naimi, Board Member and Head of Membership Affairs Committee, QSE, and Ibrahim Al Sulaiti, Board Member and Head of Activities Committee at QSE.
Al Naimi said: “We are pleased to be the first corporate partner of Qatar Society of Engineers to provide an added value for our national engineers as this will help them be part of the broader engineering community in the country. We hope that other companies and organisations in the country will follow suit so that the Qatari engineering community can benefit from the extensive networking and training opportunities provided by QSE.”
Al Jolo added: “We value this significant initiative taken by Qatargas in supporting the Qatar Society of Engineers as it exemplifies our policy of widening our cooperation with different governmental and non-governmental organisations in the country. We encourage other corporate organisations and government establishments to follow.”
Qatar Petroleum (QP), a major sponsor of the event, also took part in the exhibition. Many QP engineers also attended the conference that featured plenary sessions, tutorials and technical presentations covering a wide range of topics, including electronics and instrumentation, power systems and energy, as well as communications and signals processing.
The QP booth at the exhibition, which was visited by many conference delegates including engineering students, primarily showcased the corporation’s extensive operations in the oil and gas industry and also it’s newly launched corporate vision to be a world-class oil and gas corporation.
