Doha, Qatar: The Qatar Meteorology Department has issued an alert for low visibility due to dust associated with strong northwesterly winds. 

It stated that several parts of the country are experiencing visibility of less than 5km, particularly in the western areas. 

In an earlier update issued at 11:30am, the department noted that satellite images are showed a dust mass approaching Qatar, with various parts of the country expected to be affected in the coming hours.
