HATAY, Turkey: A total of 231 injured Aleppans have been brought to Turkey for being treated following the evacuation of the war-battered Syrian city of Aleppo, according to the prime ministry press office.
The Turkish Prime Ministry Directorate General of Press and Information told Anadolu Agency that 26 of the 231 injured civilians succumbed to their wounds despite all efforts.
The authorities said that 33 of the 231 injured Aleppans were discharged from the hospitals, adding that 95 of the injured civilians were under 18.
Last week, Syrian opposition forces and the regime reached a cease-fire deal, brokered by Turkey and Russia, to evacuate civilians from eastern Aleppo to safe areas in opposition-held Idlib.
So far, 40,000 people have been evacuated from the area, according to Turkish authorities.
