Doha: The Cabinet praised yesterday directives of the Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to allocate 750 shares paid in full by the state to each individual covered under the social security system and each person with special needs affiliated to Mesaieed Petrochemical Holding Company.
The Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani chaired the weekly Cabinet meeting at the Emiri Diwan.
Following the session, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs H E Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Mahmoud said the Emiri directives were within the framework of his keenness to provide all requirements for a decent and stable living for citizens and his care for them.
The session then approved a Cabinet draft resolution to form a national committee to implement international health regulations 2005.
According to the resolution, the panel will be set up at the Ministry of Public Health under the chairmanship of the Director of the Department of Public Health, with representatives from concerned authorities as members. It will prepare an executive plan to implement the regulations and review and develop general strategies and mechanisms to respond to risks that cause health concerns at the international level.
The Cabinet endorsed a proposal by the Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning to amend some provisions of the Cabinet decision No. 17 of 2003 establishing a committee to name areas, neighbourhoods, streets and squares.
The panel set up under the chairmanship of a ministry representative with members from concerned authorities, will review current names and propose names for unnamed and new areas.
The Cabinet reviewed two reports by the National Committee for Prohibiting Weapons on its activities from January 1 to August 31 this year.
The committee organised activities in Qatar and prepared a contest for school students on the hazards posed by weapons of mass destruction and internationally prohibited weapons during the scholastic year 2013-2014 and published a biannual magazine to create awareness about disarmament. It also took part in international conferences and meetings, and followed up draft laws on chemical and biological weapons and the national strategy on prohibition and control of nuclear material.
The Cabinet also discussed a memorandum by the Minister of Public Health on the outcome of the 60th session of the Regional Committee for the Eastern Mediterranean in Muscat in October 2013.
The Cabinet approved a draft agreement on avoidance of double taxation and prevention of fiscal evasion with regard to income tax between Qatar and Ecuador and its annexed draft protocol; and a draft agreement on tourism cooperation with Panama. QNA
