Doha, Qatar: Al Noor Center for the Blind, one of the entities of the Qatar Foundation for Social Work operating under the Ministry of Social Development and Family, convened the closing ceremony for the 2024-2025 academic year.

Minister of Social Development and Family H E Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi patronised and attended the event, alongside a range of Their Excellencies the ministers and the nation’s high-ranking officials, as well as representatives of official and societal entities.

The event featured the honouring of 29 alumni from the Center’s beneficiaries enrolled in inclusive education programmes and universities.

Executive Director of Al Noor Center for the Blind, Mishaal Abdullah Al Nuaimi, stated that the ceremony epitomized the accomplishments of a year-long joint work between the beneficiaries and their families.

He highlighted that the Center pursues a strategic vision that aims to empower individuals with visual impairment and enhance their self-independence through an inclusive educational and rehabilitative environment.

The qualitative programmes at the Center have incredibly grown throughout the past years through leveraging ancillary technological tools and smart technologies that have significantly supported the beneficiaries in various educational and occupational aspects.

These technologies have remained a critical element in rehabilitation and are constantly updated in partnership with domestic and international institutions, Al Nuaimi pointed out.

He indicated that beneficiaries perform a phenomenal role in crafting the programme that meets their needs, emphasising that their academic and occupational successes represent the quintessential outcome of this participatory approach, the integration of the Center’s efforts, and the support of their parents.

For her part, the beneficiary Alanoud Al Marri, one of the graduates of the Center’s inclusive education programmes, spoke about her educational journey and the pivotal role the Center played in empowering her and enhancing her skillsets.

She commended the substantial supportive efforts exerted by the Center’s beneficiaries, which contributed to overcoming obstacles, confronting challenges, and achieving concrete milestones.

Alongside this ceremony, an exhibition titled ‘Journey of Light’ was organised, highlighting the track pursued by the beneficiaries, starting from the evaluation phase, spanning the phases of rehabilitation and inclusion, and culminating in graduation.

The expo was structured into three sections, notably, the tools of ancillary technology, a corner for occupational rehabilitation, which showcased the foremost products crafted by the hands of the beneficiaries, in addition to artworks and creative pieces reflecting the skills they had acquired during their rehabilitation period.
