Haniyah calls on Arab leaders to follow Emir’s lead

Gaza: Head of the Palestinian government Islamil Haniyah termed the visit of the Emir H H Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, to the impoverished Gaza Strip as a good and advanced step toward breaking the blockade imposed on the Strip, while calling on Arab and Muslim leaders to adopt similar steps and visit the Strip .

In his Eid Al Adha sacrifice sermon he delivered at Nusairat refugee camp here yesterday, Haniyah said: “We have lived good, blessed and happy days on the soil of Gaza despite the difficult circumstances and the blockade the people of Gaza are suffering in the West Bank and the holy city of Ql Quds (Jerusalem) and the territories of 1948. The Emir of the State of Qatar visited us and launched several projects beneficial to our people in the strip.”

The head of the Palestinian government renewed appreciation to Qatar, the Emir, the government and the people for what they offered to Gaza and highly lauded the visit as breaking all barriers including the Israeli siege and to reiterated that Gaza is the heart of the nation. 

Earlier, the Arab League asserted that the visit of the Emir accompanied by a number of senior officials, to Gaza Strip as historic and an important initiative to break the siege on the Strip.QNA
