Madrid: Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez described the famine in the Gaza Strip as a "shame for all of humanity," stressing that ending this suffering "is a moral imperative."
His statements came during a press conference held Monday in Madrid, in which he announced his country's intention to airdrop 12 tons of food aid over Gaza, amid the worsening humanitarian crisis in the besieged and devastated Strip after 21 months of Israeli aggression.
Sanchez said that the aid drops will take place next Friday from Jordan by Spanish Air Force aircraft.
For its part, the Spanish Ministry of Defense stated that this aid will be distributed in an operation similar to that carried out in March 2024, when Madrid delivered 26 tons of food supplies to Gaza.
Spain will join Middle Eastern countries in sending aid to the people of Gaza, who are suffering from a severe humanitarian crisis.
