Hanover: Struggling Hannover 96 announced Monday the appointment of Thomas Schaaf as new head coach.
German news agency DPA reported today that Schaaf signed a contract until 2017. The 54 year-old play for Werder Bremen before coaching them from 1999 to 2013. He won one Bundesliga title and three cups. He then moved to coach Eintracht Frankfurt before resigning in May.
Hannover 96 currently sit second to bottom having collected only 14 points. They lost 11 out of the 17 matches they played. The race is close at the bottom however as three points separates them from Eintracht Frankfurt.
