DOHA: The fifth Intel Science Competition Arab World 2014 (ISC AW) an annual Pan Arab Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) competition for students in grades 9 to 12 is set to take place in Qatar next month.
Joint organisers Intel Corporation (Ltd.), the Research and Development Division of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF R&D), and Supreme Education Council, (SEC) have announced the ISC AW will take place from November 9 to November 11.
The ISC AW will be hosted in Qatar for the first time, with more than 100 students participating from 11 countries across the Middle East and North Africa all competing for prizes. The three-day event takes place at the Qatar National Convention Centre. Alongside Intel and SEC, QF R&D’s involvement in the competition stems from its core mission areas of supporting programmes in education, driving the science and research culture in Qatar and furthering learning and knowledge.
Qatari judges will be joined by international experts to appraise a total of 89 projects in a range of diverse categories, including energy, environmental science, engineering, computer science, biochemistry, behavioural and social sciences. Students qualified for the ISC AW by winning their home country’s science competition and now set to meet and compete with their international peers. Students will be presenting their projects and competing in Arabic, with the aim of building confidence and experience of working with the language in the field of science.
