Doha, Qatar: In a bid to enhance the skills and knowledge of Philippine HR practitioners residing in Qatar, the 3rd continuing professional development (CPD) event was organised by the Philippine HR Practitioners-Qatar (PHRP-Q) in collaboration with the Migrant Workers Office (MWO) in Doha.
The event, held at the Warwick Hotel Doha, witnessed the participation of 52 members from the Philippine HR community.
The CPD event focused on vital aspects of ensuring the welfare and rights of Filipino migrant workers, with the MWO officials as the guest speakers. The sessions covered a range of topics including job order processing, employment contract verification, and overseas employment certificate (OEC) requirements.
The event kicked off emphasising the importance of staying up-to-date with the latest trends and regulations in the field of migrant worker management. MWO, consisting of experts in the field, took turns delivering insightful presentations and engage in interactive discussions with the attendees.
During the session on the job order processing, MWO provided the attendees with a comprehensive understanding of the procedures and documentation involved. It emphasised the significance of meticulous attention to detail in order to ensure the smooth processing of job orders and the protection of workers’ rights.
The second session focused on employment contract verification, shed light on the importance of thoroughly reviewing and verifying employment contracts to safeguard the interests of both employers and employees. The guest speakers shared practical tips and guidelines for identifying potential red flags and ensuring compliance with labour laws and regulations.
Moreover, MWO guided the attendees through the intricacies of obtaining and renewing OECs, stressing the significance of this document for overseas Filipino workers. They provided valuable insights into the process, documentation, and steps required to secure the OEC, ensuring a smooth transition for workers intending to return to the Philippines.
The sessions were highly interactive, with attendees actively participating in discussions, asking questions, and sharing their experiences. The MWO team encouraged an open dialogue, promoting a collaborative environment that fostered the exchange of ideas and best practices.
