Palestinian envoy commends Qatar’s firm policy

Doha: Ambassador of the State of Palestine to the State of Qatar H E Muneer Ghanam praised the State of Qatar’s firm support of Palestinian rights led by establishing an independent state with East Al Quds as it capital, saying that the Qatari position was a noble one that is highly appreciated by the Palestinian people.

The Ambassador spoke to Qatar News Agency on the occasion of Qatar National Day and said that Qatar has always been and continues to pursue its steadfast policy in supporting Palestinian rights, and in supporting the Palestinian people in their struggle against the occupation, due to their conviction of the just cause they are pursuing.

The Ambassador offered his congratulations to Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Father Amir H H Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, the government, and the Qatari people on Qatar National Day. He expressed his hope that the country can continue its journey of progress, prosperity and development as they realised the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030.  

He noted that Qatar has gone through, along with the rest of the world, an exceptional 2020 due to the catastrophic impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. He praised the precautionary measures taken by the State of Qatar in its response to this pandemic, in addition the assistance and support it provided to many friendly countries, including the State of Palestine.

He said that he witnessed with his own eyes how Qatar mobilised all its capabilities to contain the coronavirus and succeeded remarkably in doing so. The Ambassador added that these firm efforts guaranteed all those living in Qatar a higher degree of safety and better health. He said that this was reflected in the low death rate and the high recovery rate, making the country one of the most successful in containing the spread of the virus.

He stressed that Qatar has overcome the virus and extended a helping hand to many countries that were experiencing great difficulties in containing it, thus setting the most wonderful example of the spirit of solidarity and harmony among members of the international community. 

The Ambassador noted that Palestine was among the first countries that have received Qatari support to help them provide the material and medical needs necessary to contain and confront this pandemic. He renewed his congratulations to the State of Qatar on its National Day, wishing the country further progress and success.
