Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs H E Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani
Doha, Qatar: Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs H E Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani has praised teachers for their role in building minds, shaping generations and developing Qatar’s human capabilities, as the country marks World Teachers’ Day.
In a post on X, the Prime Minister quoted a line of a famous poem saying, “Have you known anyone more noble or more worthy than the one who builds and shapes souls and minds?” before paying tribute to teachers for their dedication and contribution to education.
“On Teachers’ Day, we celebrate your generous role in raising generations over the years, the importance of your noble educational and teaching mission, and your active contribution to elevating the status of education and developing human capabilities,” he said, adding, “Thank you for your giving and dedication,” the Prime Minister added.
Minister of Education and Higher Education H E Lolwah bint Rashid bin Mohammed Al Khater also highlighted the far-reaching impact of teachers, stressing that their work extends well beyond the classroom and curriculum.
“On World Teachers’ Day, it is fitting to remember that the teacher’s effort goes beyond the boundaries of the classroom and the curriculum, and that their impact extends farther than we realise and deeper than we imagine,” she said in a post on X.
“If their visible work is great and appreciated, their quiet effort is no less impactful,” Al Khater said, explaining that such efforts may become evident years later in “a student whose path was set right, a talent that was discovered and nurtured, or a soul that regained its confidence through a word that reached it in a time of hardship.”
Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education H E Dr. Ibrahim bin Saleh Al Nuaimi similarly praised teachers for their role in instilling knowledge, values and a sense of belonging among young people.
“To the teachers of Qatar, on Teachers’ Day, I extend to you my utmost appreciation and pride in recognition of your noble mission and your fundamental role in instilling knowledge, values and belonging,” Dr. Al Nuaimi said in a post on X.
“Your mission does not stop at the boundaries of education,” he said. “In your hands, the character of these generations is shaped, their values deepen, and their pride in their identity and homeland becomes firmly established.”
Dr. Al Nuaimi described teachers as “the educators who stand closest to our sons and daughters and guide them towards leadership of the future,” adding that the ministry appreciates their efforts and takes pride in the important mission they carry out.
“We are confident that the impact of your work will remain present and profound in our children and will extend into their future and the future of our beloved country, Qatar,” he said. “Thank you, and wishing you all well every year.”
The messages come ahead of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education’s celebration of World Teachers’ Day 2026, scheduled for Wednesday, October 7, at The Ritz-Carlton Doha under the theme “Giving That Bears Fruit in Generations.”
World Teachers’ Day is observed annually on October 5, commemorating the adoption in 1966 of the International Labour Organization and Unesco Recommendation concerning the Status of Teachers, which established international principles and standards concerning teachers’ rights and responsibilities, working conditions, preparation and professional development.
