Iran’s grapplers continue domination in Qatar

Doha: Iran continued to dominate freestyle battles at the Senior Asian Wrestling Championship with their grapplers bagging two more gold medals to their tally, on the second day of the continental event at the Aspire Academy yesterday.  
A day after Iranian wrestlers won two gold medals on the opening day, Yaramadi Peyman Morteza and Mohammadian Mohammadhossein annexed two more premier medals by winning their respective finals. 
Mortaza won the gold medal in 74kg category when he comfortably defeated Shimada Daisuke 8-2 in an aggressive display of wrestling. The bronze medals of the category went to Kurbanov Rashid of Uzbekistan and India’s Yadav Narsingh Pancham. 
Rashid overcame Evloev Muslim of Kyrgyzstan 3-0 while Pancham was adjudged the winner against Zakirov Zhiger (by criteria) after both contestants end the fight with an 8-8 score-line.  Mohammadhossein became the 97kg Asian champion after trouncing Musaev Magomed of Kyrgyzstan 10-3, in another one-sided battle. Yamaguchi Takeshi and Kim Jaegand claimed bronze medals after winning their respective bouts. 
Meanwhile, Japan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan also added a gold medal each to their tally on the second day of the five-day championship. Yuki Irie secured the second gold medal for Japan in the championship after a tough battle against India’s star Vinesh Phogat 3-2 in the 48kg women’s wrestling. Three-time Olympics champion, Icho Kaori opened account for Japan on the opening day by winning the 58kg contest. 
The bronze medals in the event went to Tatyana Amanzhol (Kazakhstan) and Kim Hyon Gyong (North Korea). 
Niyazbekov Daulet won the first gold medal for Kazakhstan by winning the 61kg final, after been awarded the win over Behnam Eshagh Ehsanpoor of Iran following a 3-3 stalemate in the final. The Peninsula
