Ottawa: Canada's bombing missions against ISIS group in Iraq and Syria will end in a "matter of weeks," Foreign Affairs Minister Stephane Dion said.
"It's a matter of weeks, not months," Dion told reporters, adding "We're carrying out two percent of the air strikes. We're going to do something more efficient for the coalition."
Liberals who took power in Ottawa last month said that Canada can contribute more effectively to the US-led anti-militant campaign by assigning more soldiers to train Kurdish fighters in northern Iraq.
The new Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said after his election that he told US President Barack Obama that the Canadian government will stop air strikes against ISIS.
Canada has announced its plan to accept 25,000 Syrian refugees by the end of February, 2016.
