DOHA: The Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani yesterday sent a cable of condolences to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud following the death of Prince Sultan bin Turki bin Saud Al Kabeer Al Saud.
The Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani sent a similar cable.
DOHA: Violations detected by radars continued to make up the highest number of traffic offences in Qatar. The total number of cases related to speeding jumped to 96,575 in June compared to 87,123 in May. The latest figures on violations released by the Ministry of Development Planning and Statistics show the total number of offences rose to 165,572 in June, from 158,300 in May. Cases related to breaking signals jumped to 2,491 from 2,196 in May and violation of signs to 13,649 from 10,852.
However, June witnessed a drop in cases related to ‘non-renewal of registration’. The total number of offences declined to 369 compared to 568 in May and miscellaneous offences to 26,383 from 36,507.
DOHA: The Supreme Education Council (SEC) has set up a committee to study applications for admissions to Independent schools in some exceptional cases involving children of employees in the private sector. The committee is to give suggestions to the concerned body at the SEC to find ways of providing admissions in such cases by identifying vacancies in different schools. The deadline for applications in such exceptional cases was July 31 which coincided with Eid holidays after having been extended for another week.
