DOHA: The Commercial Registration and Licenses Department at the Ministry of Economy and Commerce issued 1,668 new commercial registrations and canceled 239 commercial registrations in March 2016.
New commercial registrations included 1,192 main registrations and 476 branch registrations accounting for 71 percent and 29 percent of total new commercial registrations issued in March, respectively.
A more detailed breakdown of the statistics shows that limited liability companies topped the list of commercial registrations issued in March including 615 main commercial registrations and 166 branch commercial registrations (which varied by entity), accounting for 51.59 percent and 34.87 percent of the total number of main and branch commercial registrations issued in March, respectively.
Sole proprietorship companies ranked second with 482 main commercial registrations and 263 branch commercial registrations, accounting for 40.44 percent and 55.25 percent of total main and branch commercial registrations issued in March, respectively.
Commercial registrations for establishments included 87 main commercial registrations and 46 branch commercial registrations, accounting for 7.3 percent and 9.66 percent of total main and branch commercial registrations, respectively.
Contracting companies were most active, topping the list and accounting for 18 percent of the total number of main and branch commercial registrations issued in March and were followed by construction material trading companies at 8 percent.
Fast food shops, restaurants and grocery stores ranked third with a share of 7 percent followed by cleaning services companies at 5 percent, and clothes, fabrics and general goods trading companies at 4 percent. Companies involved in other activities accounted for the remaining 59 percent of total newly issued commercial registrations in March.
