Doha, Qatar: In a significant move to strengthen regional connectivity, the Saudi Cabinet has approved the electric high-speed rail link between Saudi Arabia and Qatar.
According to a statement issued by the Saudi Press Agency regarding the session, held yesterday, February 10, 2026, several decisions were announced. Among them was the approval of “an agreement on the electric high-speed railway linkage between the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Government of the State of Qatar.”
The formal agreement to construct the rail network was signed in December 2025, connecting Riyadh’s King Salman International Airport with Doha’s Hamad International Airport.
It was also announced that the trains would operate at speeds exceeding 300 km/h, reducing travel time between the two capitals to approximately two hours.
The project is set to be completed within six years, serving 10 million passengers per year and generating more than 30,000 direct and indirect jobs.
