Manila: The widow of slain Impasug-ong, Bukidnon Mayor Mario Okinlay called on authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into the killing of her husband who was laid to rest on Saturday morning.
Julia Abasoca Okinlay said she would not be satisfied with a brief investigation because she wants to see justice supported by the right evidence.
She added that they have not filed a case against the three suspects identified by the police, as they await the results of the probe that the military is conducting.
The three suspects have been tagged as members of the New People’s Army, which has owned up to the killing, “but we should look for other possible angles,” she said. Okinlay said her family would not talk about the killing for 10 days after the burial because of tribal rituals, as the slain mayor is a Higaonon.

China detains prominent TV anchor: Report
SHANGHAI: Chinese authorities have detained a prominent financial news anchor for state broadcaster China Central Television (CCTV), according to media reports, in what appears to be the latest target in a corruption crackdown.
Authorities on Friday “took away” Rui Chenggang, 36, known for his fluent English and interviews with corporate and world leaders, along with the deputy director of CCTV’s finance channel Li Yong, the influential Caixin magazine reported on its website.
The government has not confirmed the detentions, which were reported by state media including the mouthpiece of the Communist Party, the People’s Daily.
Shanghai media platform The Paper quoted CCTV sources as saying Rui and his family members allegedly set up a public relations company which made use of his influence for “seeking profits”.
The report said the public relations firm took fees from some of Rui’s interview subjects for arranging activities in China
