DOHA: The British Council Qatar yesterday announced that enrolment for a third Summer School course is now open due to high demand.
The programme will begin on August 25, concluding on September 12. Registrations will be open from today until August 22.
The Summer School offers innovative English language training for adults and young learners, and in the third course it will accommodate different age groups in the young learners category covering Seniors (11-14 years) and Young Adults (15-17 years). Classes for adults are open to all ages.
The programme complements school curricula and work-related requirements for presentations and project work.
Commenting on the programme, Robert Taylor, Director English Language Services said: “The Summer School programme so far this year has seen unprecedented demand and has received excellent feedback. Our new style courses which encourage active use of realistic language in the classroom for all students have received excellent feedback. We are thrilled at the positive response from the local community, and as a result of this we are launching a third summer school in the period after Eid Al Fitr due to strong demand”.
The programme runs for different lengths of time, depending on the age group and will take three weeks.
There are morning and evening classes, offering students the flexibility they need to pick a schedule that best suits them.
“We believe the increasing demand is due to the approach we have taken to make the experience interactive and engaging. With young learners, we know they look for activities that capture their imagination whilst developing real skills they can use in school and in other situations,” Taylor said.
“Adult learners have different needs, and taking that into consideration, the programme has been devised that will really build confidence and take them to the next level of their capabilities. That type of progress will not only make them proficient users of the language, but also boost their careers,” he added.
