Nepal Embassy celebrates Constitution Day

Doha: The Embassy of Nepal in Doha marked yesterday National Day of Nepal and Constitution Day amidst a brief ceremony organised inside the Embassy premises. 

In line with the preventive and precautionary measures to control the COVID-19, the ceremony was attended by Embassy family and a limited number of representatives of various Nepali community organisations in Qatar.

Ambassador of Nepal to Qatar, H E Dr. Narad Nath Bhardwaj inaugurated the event by lighting traditional oil-fed lamp. He then hoisted the flag of Nepal which was followed by the national anthem. H E Dr. Bharadwaj delivered National Day message which was followed by cake cutting ceremony to celebrate the joyous occasion. 

Delivering the National Day message, H E Dr. Bharadwaj read out the summary of  the National Day messages from the President of Nepal, H E Bidya Devi Bhandari and the Prime Minister of Nepal, H E K P Sharma Oli. H E the Ambassador highlighted the importance of National Day and Constitution day for Nepalese living in different parts of  the world. 



H E recalled the historic promulgation of the Constitution of Nepal on September 20, 2015 by the Constituent Assembly. The Constitution has ensured democracy, inclusion, development and social justice, he added. 

As envisioned by the Constitution, the Government of Nepal has pursued the path of peace, progress and prosperity. The Ambassador said that the Government is committed to realising its objective of ‘Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali’ by focusing on economic growth.

Dr. Bharadwaj then touched upon Nepal’s cordial ties with the State of Qatar subsisting happily since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1977. He appreciated the way Qatar has continued to make phenomenal progress in recent years despite various obstacles.

H E expressed satisfaction at the presence of large number of Nepali diaspora in Qatar as connecting bridge between the two countries. Speaking highly of the continuous series of labour reforms introduced by the State of Qatar, including the latest one on minimum wages and non-requirement of NOCs, he expressed confidence that Qatar will continue to develop itself into a prosperous country, both for its citizens as well as for its residents.

H E Ambassador Dr. Bharadwaj also referred to the current crisis of COVID-19. He praised Qatar’s effective and successful management of the pandemic. While appreciating Qatar’s support to Nepal and Nepalese against the COVID-19 challenges, he requested the Nepali community in Qatar to strictly comply with the preventive and precautionary measures.

Finally, H E Dr. Bharadwaj expressed the willingness of Nepal to continue to explore further avenues of cooperation and collaboration with the State of Qatar for the mutual benefit of both the countries.
