700 seek to volunteer for Sport Day

DOHA: Over 700 people have already submitted applications to volunteer for the National Sport Day, 20 days before the celebrations.
Thousands of people have also visited the National Sport Day Facebook and Twitter accounts and registered at the National Sport Day website.

The country’s top Paralympian, Abdulrahman Abdulqader Abdulrahman, has been recently announced as the first official National Sport Day Ambassador, and other elite athletes from various sports will be named soon.

The sport day, which enhances the objectives of the Qatar National Vision 2030, is central to the country’s commitment to sport, in addition to the ‘Schools Olympic Programme’, which encourages schoolchildren to practice in sport as an integral part of their daily life. Events at the Corniche, Aspire, the Museum of Islamic Art and the Olympic parks will demonstrate the importance of sport in daily life to maintain a healthy lifestyle. The Peninsula
