DOHA: Katara DFI Cinema will launch its 2013 screenings with the showing of award-winning film Beasts of the Southern Wild from tomorrow to January 30 at Katara Drama Theatre, Building 16.
The film takes the viewer to an isolated bayou community where, a six-year-old girl exists on the brink of orphanhood. Buoyed by the extraordinary imagination of childhood, she believes the universe is in balance, but when a fierce storm comes, she must learn to survive catastrophe.
Beasts of the Southern Wild won over 15 international awards and nominated for four Academy Awards, including, Best Picture, Best Director, Best Writing- Adapted Screenplay and Best Actress in a Leading Role for Quvenzhan Wallis — the youngest actress ever to receive an Oscar nomination for the category.
