Doha: In line with its commitment to support entrepreneurial tutoring endeavours, Vodafone staff volunteered for INJAZ Qatar and took students through a job shadowing programme.
Rita El Helou, Susan Winfield, Yaman Al Jundi, Shahzad Khan, Asim Mirza, Ola Youssef, Javed Qureshi, Zeena Abu Issa and Javeria Masrour shared with students first-hand insights into the corporate world and their experiences in the workplace and provided coaching and mentoring around what they aspire to build and achieve.
Sessions started with an introduction to Vodafone, taking students through Vodafone values and included a workshop on communication skills.
Kariman Mahmoud, Director, Programmes and Operations, INJAZ Qatar, said: “I would like to thank Vodafone for allowing INJAZ youth to take part in its job shadowing initiative. Thanks to Vodafone employees’ hospitality and hard work, students experienced a work atmosphere incomparable to any they had experienced before. This experience was informative and fun and both key components made student time well spent.”
Haeefa Al Malki, Qatarisation Manager, Vodafone Qatar, said: “We’re proud to partner with INJAZ Qatar to reach out to students and contribute to their learning journey with work life insights, tips and advice.
“Supporting such initiatives is at the forefront of our priorities as we believe in our role and commitment to lead in knowledge-sharing and contribute to youth development.
“The job shadowing day for each group of students was full of learning where they observed the daily work, involving activities such as meetings and employees’ interactions. It was a great opportunity for students to explore future career.”
One of the students said: “The best thing about the programme was the opportunity to link theoretical and practical parts in the work environment.
“We loved the working environment at Vodafone and how employees interacted and they were very helpful and supportive. It was great to have had the chance to talk with professionals and set our expectations for future careers.
“The multi-culture environment attracted us and we would love to be part of it.”
