New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit yesterdaty inaugurated Nature Bazar, a cultural and retail hub of natural and organic produce, aimed at creating a link between nature and crafts and promoting age-old skills in innovative products.
“It will be a vibrant green space in a busy metropolitan area. A module of how to be both Indian and contemporary, environmentally ethical as well as people-friendly,” Dikshit said.
The bazar, which is at the Kisan Haat in Andheria Modh in south Delhi, is a joint initiative of Delhi government and Delhi Tourism.
Malayalam magazine in Australia gets award
Thiruvananthapu ram: Thiruvallam Bhasi, chief editor of Indian Malayalee magazine, was yesterday presented the prestigious Federation of India Associations Victoria (FIAV) award for his role in promoting Malayalam and his magazine in Australia.
Speaking from Melbourne, Bhasi said that this recognition came at the time when his magazine was celebrating its sixth anniversary. “Am happy that my efforts for bringing out this magazine has been rewarded at the highest level in Australia. I dedicate this to my readers,” said Bhasi.
Bhasi has more than 25 years experience in Kerala as journalist before migrating to Melbourne more than a decade back.
Man jumps to death from Delhi building
New Delhi: A 24-year-old man jumped to his death from the fourth floor of a building here, police said yesterday.
Rahul Vijender Singh jumped off from a building housing many offices and shops at the Janakpuri district centre in west Delhi, around 4pm when the area was crowded.
Police said that before jumping off, Rahul, resident of Bindapur, slashed one of his fingers and wrote the name “Ekta” on a wall of the building.
“The actual reason for the suicide has not been ascertained. The matter is under investigation,” said a police officer.
Rahul worked in his father’s factory located in south Delhi. No suicide note was recovered from him.
