DOHA: Katara has signed a strategic partnership with the Chinese district of Fujian in the field of culture and trade.
Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti, general manager of Katara and Zhi Ming, deputy general manager and director of publishing and distribution group along with a number of Chinese and Katara officials attended the signing ceremony.
“The Katara cultural district was established as a significant step for the implementation of the Qatar National Vision 2030, which is to make Qatar a beacon of culture,” said Dr Al Sulaiti.
He stressed that the agreement will deepen the commercial and cultural cooperation between the two parties.
Chen Chuxin, Director of the Division, Fujian Province Foreign Affairs Office, said: “We in China are very pleased with this partnership with Katara as the agreement aims to preserve local cultural and at the same time make Qatar an international cultural destination.”
“The purpose of this delegation is to exchange experiences and introduce the true concept of Chinese tea, as well as the art of making Chinese tea,” he said.
“We hope that we may offer another healthy option and teach people to relax and enjoy life with friends. That’s why we propose the establishment of Chinese tea culture here in Qatar,” he added.
Members of the Chinese delegation said the agreement will promote exports between the two countries, establish joint exhibitions and exchange of expertise as well as conduct market research between the two countries.
