THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Former Kerala Chief Minister VS Achuthanandan yesterday sought Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s intervention in launching a probe against Kerala chief secretary’s alleged links with builders.
The veteran CPI-M leader and Leader of Opposition in the state assembly, in a letter to Modi, said the Central Vigilance Commission should probe the allegations against EK Bharath Bhushan.
He alleged that Bhushan has a soft corner for real estate developers in the state.  In the letter, Achuthanandan said the chief secretary appears to have the full support of Chief Minister Oommen Chandy.  “Since you (Modi) are the minister of personnel, I request you to order a probe into the chief secretary’s land deals and also that has taken place in the name of his wife,” Achuthanandan wrote in the letter.
Meanwhile, Union Minister for Road Transport, Highways and Shipping Nitin Gadkari yesterday denied media reports that a “listening device” was found inside his residence here. “Reports in a section of the media about listening devices having been found at my New Delhi residence are highly speculative,” Gadkari tweeted. A close aide of the minister too denied the report, but did not give any details.
Deputy Commissioner of Police SBS Tyagi too said police have not received any complaint from Gadkari in the matter.
