Cave closed to tourists

BAGUIO CITY:  Sumaguing Cave, a popular spelunking destination in Sagada town, Mt Province, remains closed to tourists while Dagupan, Pangasinan native Eufrocinia “Irene” Manaois who reportedly slipped inside the cave on Saturday during monsoon rains is missing. The cave has been closed since August 19, said Sagada Environmental Guides Association guide and Ambasing barangay councilllor Fabian Batnag. Batnag said it is inappropriate to allow tourists back into it until the tourist’s body is found.

Sea Air flight stuck at airport

MANILA: The Kalibo Airport in Aklan province was closed after a Sea Air flight got stuck on the runway yesterday morning. The Ninoy Aquino International Airport Media Affairs Division said Sea Air A320 bound for Manila got stuck on the soft part or outside the pavement of the runway. 

Seven die in road smash  

PUERTO PRINCESA: All seven passengers were killed when their van collided head-on with a bus on the western Philippine island of Palawan yesterday, police said. The van was leaving the island’s capital Puerto Princesa and the bus was going in the opposite direction. Bus passengers suffered injuries. 

Pawnshop robbed

MANILA: Ten robbers barged into Agencia Belen Pawnshop, disarmed the guard and fled with P5m ($113,000) worth of jewellery  in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental. Police said one was arrested and the loot recovered. Agencies
