Labour Ministry receives 9,945 new recruitment requests in August

Doha: The Ministry of Labour received 9,945 new recruitment requests in August, out of which 5,489 were approved and 4,456 rejected.

The total number of requests to modify the profession recorded were 5,832, out of which 4,875 were approved and 949 rejected.

This came in the monthly statistical bulletin for August 2022 issued by the Ministry of Labour disclosing the key statistics and figures of the Labour sector in Qatar, as well as the results of inspection visits to various establishments.

According to MoL bulletin, the number of requests for work permits submitted to the ministry during August amounted to 1,756, including 751 requests to renew the permit, 673 requests for new permit issuance, 328 requests of cancellation, and four requests to replace lost permits.

The number of applications to modify the profession in August attained 5,832 applications, about 4,875 applications were approved, and 949 applications were rejected.

In terms of inspection visits to recruitment offices, the statistical bulletin showed that the ministry carried out about 19 inspection tours on recruitment offices, which resulted in issuing warning notices to one office and issuing a report against another office.

During August, the Labour Inspection Department conducted intensive inspection campaigns to monitor the extent to which establishments comply with the laws and ministerial decisions regulating the Labour market in Qatar, with a total number of 4,602 inspection visits in various regions, which resulted in the detection of 910 violations, 528 warnings, and the violation of about 120 companies for breaching Resolution No. 17 of 2021 regarding the necessary measures to protect workers from heat stress.

Regarding Labour complaints, the statistical bulletin showed that  Labour Relations Department received complaints from the facility’s workers against the facility with about 2,895 complaints, of which 451 complaints were settled, 404 complaints were referred for review, and approximately 2,040 complaints remained under the procedure.
