ISLAMABAD: The Sindh provincial assembly passed a new bill proposing changes in the local body government amid chants of “shame, shame” by opposition members.
Opposition leader Sardar Ahmed of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) protested against the bill, claiming that it was not the same which was shown to the opposition. In response to Ahmed’s claims, Pakistan People Party’s Nisar Khuhro said the opposition was opposing for the sake of opposing, which prompted MQM lawmakers to stand up and protest. As heated debate continued, Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani intervenened to restore order in the provincial assembly.
