Doha, Qatar: The 11th edition of Qatar Sustainability Week will begin on October 31, bringing together government, private and civil society institutions for a week of activities aimed at promoting environmental awareness and sustainable practices, with organisers targeting more than 700 activities to surpass last year’s record.

The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MECC), in collaboration with Earthna Centre for a Sustainable Future, a member of Qatar Foundation (QF), announced details of the 11th edition of Qatar Sustainability Week (QSW) 2026, scheduled to take place from October 31, to November 7, with wide participation from government, private, and civil society institutions.

The announcement was made during a press conference held yesterday, which reviewed key initiatives and activities planned for organisation alongside participating entities. Representatives highlighted their planned contributions, spanning specialised activations, community workshops, and corporate initiatives designed to champion sustainable practices.

Qatar Sustainability Week aims to raise environmental awareness, foster a culture of sustainability across diverse segments of society, and encourage individuals and institutions to adopt more sustainable lifestyles and take part in efforts aimed at protecting the environment and natural resources.

Since its inaugural edition in 2016 through 2025, the campaign engaged over 1 million participants across roughly 3,400 events in collaboration with approximately 2,000 partner organisations, directly supporting national efforts to fulfil the Qatar National Vision 2030 and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Speaking at the press conference, Assistant Undersecretary for Climate Change Affairs at MECC Eng Ahmed Mohammed Al Sada, affirmed that Qatar Sustainability Week serves as a national platform to strengthen cooperation between government entities, the private sector, and civil society organisations, facilitate the exchange of environmental expertise and initiatives, and embed sustainability principles into corporate and community practices in support of the Qatar National Vision 2030.

He explained that the Ministry views Qatar Sustainability Week as an opportunity to reinforce collaborative national action on environment and climate change, translating environmental awareness into practical, lasting behaviours. He underscored the importance of ensuring that the outcomes of these initiatives extend well beyond the week itself to create an enduring positive impact on society and the environment.

Eng Al Sada further noted that the event’s success relies on wide-reaching participation and diverse initiatives across all sectors, urging individuals and institutions to actively take part and deliver practical actions that bolster environmental responsibility and safeguard natural resources.

Executive Director, Earthna, Dr. Gonzalo Castro de la Mata stated, “As we launch the 11th edition of Qatar Sustainability Week, our focus remains firmly on inspiring long-term behavior change that aligns with the Qatar National Vision 2030. By equipping individuals and institutions with practical tools to conserve resources and reduce waste, we are actively shaping a resilient, sustainable future for generations to come.”  He said the organisers are aiming to surpass last year’s record of around 700 activities during Qatar Sustainability Week. He said the event had recorded 500 activities two years ago, followed by approximately 700 last year, while this year’s tally has reached 641, with one week remaining before the event begins on October 31.

Also participating in the press conference were Director of the Technical Office at MoEHE Noor Ali Al-Merekhi, Executive Vice President Strategy and Transformation at Doha Bank Yousef Abdulla Al-Meer and Snr Director HSE- Qatar Free Zones Authority (QFZ) Abdulla Al-Hardan. Qatar Media Corporation serves as the Strategic Media Partner for the week.
